Overview
Ojai Valley School has been recognized worldwide as a leader in English language programs. In summer, international students ages 8-15, or those generally entering grades 3-10, have the opportunity to join our English Language Camp to develop their language skills and experience American culture by interacting with peers from around the world.
Program Details
At the start of camp, students are assessed to determine their level of English proficiency. They attend morning classes that focus exclusively on language acquisition. Classes are small, allowing for individualized instruction from experienced teachers, and provide international students with a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening skills. After lunch, campers join their American peers for afternoon activities. Evenings are filled with events and bonding activities with roommates and dorm friends. 9th and 10th grade campers are paired with other high school aged campers in the afternoon, to act as mentors and buddies for younger campers. Building friendships with campers their own age and contributing to the program for younger campers, enhances English skills and provides additional cultural experiences. Throughout the summer, ESL campers of all ages participate in field trips and off campus learning opportunities, which introduces American culture and adds to their OVS adventure!
